better mpg and weird rattling
earlier tonight for a stop, when i hit the gas about half way, there was this loud rattling coming from behind me on the drivers side. i was thinking it was the exhaust supports coming loose, buts its not that. could it possibly be a bearing in the rear end?
oh and i'm now making 9.85 mpg about 1 mpg over what i made before my new plugs. i'm hopeing that since i wont be messing with the timing anymore, and if i keep my foot out of the gas, i should break 10 mpg!!! |

Was it from more underneath the truck or near the back? Maybe a bolt loose somewhere in the bed's bolts? Maybe TC bolts? I would get under there and see what might be making the noise.

Check your wheels too. Just go around all four sides and pull back and forth on the tire. Could be a loose wheel, i've had rattling problems because of that.
Check U-joints as well. Could be worn out and shaking around.....

One thing I've learned with these trucks is noises are almost always, never what you think they are. The worst noises are the ones that only happen at certain times, like when driving at certain speeds. These will drive you nuts trying to find them.
It might be something with the brakes. It could be a ton of things. Good luck with the search.
