Re: Went for a walk & look what I found...
Wonder if that 427 is blown ? Thats the only reason I can think of for parking the car and letting it rot, or maybe a blown transmission? If it is a good rebuildable core, makes you ask why the car was put out to pasture for...

Even though it's in Jersey, one could buy that property and pay it off via eBay. Some nice stuff in there...

Re: Went for a walk & look what I found...
There are quite a few crustangs sitting at this guys place. Convertibles, coupes & fastbacks. I am partial to the 65-6 fastbacks myself. The F*rds seemed to be in the best shape out of all the cars. The 2 64 Impala Convertibles were basket cases but complete. The Plymouth convertible is savable but would need a TON of work & probably a donor coupe for the floorpan & trunk. The 57 needs to be reskinned. Might as well reskin into a convertible . The vette is a shame no matter whether it is a real bb car or not. I personally wouldn't mind having the motor/trans myself for a future COPO Camaro clone. The box nova is a shame. It is an SS car but the floors are comletely gone in the car.
I know where there is a lot of stuff at around here & in PA & DE but the problem is that most of the stuff is still around because the people think that they are going to get rich off the stuff or are "hoarding" it for someother reason, maybe to compensate for other shortcomings in thier life. It seriously disturbs me. I plan on going around with my camera & taking pictures of the stuff around here. It is sad some of the things that are rotting into the ground because of this mindframe. SEMA should lobby to make it a punishable crime to leave your cars to rot. Kinda like animal cruelty...

it's places like this that someone gets lucky on when the hubby passes on, and the wife sells everything really cheap.

Re: Went for a walk & look what I found...
There is an old guy like that in Woodburn that has about a dozen (no joke, at least 12) '62 through '64 Impala's. I stopped and asked if he would sell me the worst '64 he had and he said he was going to get to them someday.
Come to find out he has been saying that since the mid 80's (when a friend of mine asked him to sell one when he was in high school). A sad waste of steel indeed.

Re: Went for a walk & look what I found...
My 71 was in a field for 18 years. I watched it for 7 of those years then when the timing was right I pounced and got it for $0.00. It took me 6 hours to dig it out and over an hour to get it on and off the flatbed as the rear was not moving.

Re: Went for a walk & look what I found...
I now an old guy that used to own the old speedshop in Spanaway. He has more rare engines then you could imagine. In his basement he probably has 150 cranks, and 2 count 'em 2 DZ 302's. This guy probably has the block and heads you are after. But like any other old guy with this type of collection,He is grumpy and as soon as you offer a fair price, He thinks it must be worth 5x's more.

Re: Went for a walk & look what I found...
I agree - 435 Horse motor would have been a Tri-Power Intake (not that the intake hasn't been changed) - but why change a cool Tri-Power for a Edlebrock single 4bbl

Re: Went for a walk & look what I found...
ALOT of people who drive/ drove those cars alot got rid of the 3x2 setup... there hard to tune, and just a PITA for a car you want to drive and enjoy. we had a few customers swap there original carbs for a single 4bbl...
not to say thats what happened here, but that is one reason one might take it off. either way, i'm sticking to its a NOM car, its just wierd, the engine spec plate, the hood is wrong, ect. not that it matters i just like picking corvettes apart becasue i dealt with the most anal, stuck up people ever when i worked for corvettes LTD, so its my way of getting back |
