Primer over zinc coating on new fender
Would dp90 primer hold to a new fender with the zinc coating?
Thanks

Re: Primer over zinc coating on new fender
Did you spray zinc primer on your fender? Zinc primer offers the worst adhesion known to man. If you have a new fender in the black EDP primer than you can just sand with 320 dry on a DA sander and then spray your DP primer over that.

No. Its the coating that comes on the new fenders. It may be EDP. If it is then I will follow your advice.

Re: Primer over zinc coating on new fender
Definitely sand it, and coat it in primer. Those coating on the new body parts will not hold up on their own very well. Make sure you also do the back side of the fender (Don't ask me how I know )

Re: Primer over zinc coating on new fender
Before you remove all of the coating check it with a rag coated in thinner. If it wipes off no good and strip, if it stays, lightly sand and epoxy prime. Some of the better manufacturers of these parts are "basically" powdercoating the parts so to speak.
