Corporate 10 bolt vs. Dana 44
Been trying to find a Dana 44 8 lug front axle for my 3/4 ton conversion on my 1/2 ton, but they're hard to find and the ones that are available are about the same price as 60s. I have located a 8 lug Corporate 10 bolt front out of a mid-80s Burb. I've never been a fan of these axles, but that was always in the rear. I don't need 60 strength as I don't do anything really hard or abusive. Are these front axles good or junk?

D44 and 10 bolt are identical in strength.

Re: Corporate 10 bolt vs. Dana 44
The later 10 bolts are a tad stronger, only because they have 30 spline inners. Other than that, the are about the same strength.

if you already have a d44 6lug just get the hubs and backing plates from the 10 and put them on your 44.

Re: Corporate 10 bolt vs. Dana 44
I just noticed that my Corporate 10 bolt has the pinion 1 inch inboard from my dana 44, thus the axles are 1" shorter on the DS and 1" longer on the PS... I guess 1" won't hurt the front driveshaft...

Re: Corporate 10 bolt vs. Dana 44
The banjo fitting on the calipers is different on d44 and 10bolts. You'll either need to replace the brake line or keep your original callipers. Not a major problem but its the small things that you dont think of that slow you down.
