Lug nuts with holes drilled and tapped in the top?
Is anyone familiar with, or has anyone seen, lug nuts with a threaded hole in the top? They may very well not exist, but I'm just checking before I go and make my own. I think I need 1/2-20's, but I'll have to check.
I think the holes I need in the top will be small enough to not affect the structural integrity of the nut, but I would feel better if there was something off the shelf that I could buy. (not to mention I wouldn't have to drill and tap 20 lug nuts!) Just wondering if anyone has ever come across anything like this?

Re: Lug nuts with holes drilled and tapped in the top?
I guess I should clarify that I am looking for mag wheel type lug nuts, the type that are usually solid on the top, not the kind of lug nuts that the stud goes all the way through.

Sorry if the description is a little confusing. Here's a little something I whipped up in photoshop to show what I am looking for.

Why do you need a threaded hole in the top?

You are probably going to have to do something like that yourself..........but beware of whatever you intend to bolt to the wheels. It must turn true and may still affect the balance.

Re: Lug nuts with holes drilled and tapped in the top?
I want to make a hubcap mount for a custom set of wheels. It will probably just be for show, not driving. I figured it would be smarter to drill into $20 worth of lug nuts instead of $800 worth of wheels.

They make a 2 piece lug nut for the bolt on spinners. That might work for you
