Just bought it today!!!!!I need the dog legs of front fenders fixed.
Is it better to and can you get repo steel to fix or have some one weld in patch panels.
Any help you can give me definitely appreciated.
Also what bench seat fits best in these trucks. Its got 2 buckets but I got 2 kids to travel with.

Re: 56 Chev Pick Up

I did patch panels (lower fendertips) and the support braces on mine. just take lots of pics and measurements and take your time.

If I find the time I'll post pics. Been awhile since I've done anything to the truck, new house. It's so close to being finished. Wiring ,bed and exhaust.

The seat that seem to work well is the bench from late 80's to early 90's chevy trucks.

get up some pics when you get the time. (I should talk).

Steve

P.s. I'll try to make it to MaggieValley. I'm in Fontana this weekend with the Mini Coopers.

Welcome to this part of the board. Nice to see a very local member on here. I'm north about 20 minutes. Post some pic and lets see what you have.
If your using the truck seat try to get one from an x-tended cab that has the tilt forward feature.

Re: 56 Chev Pick Up

Are you doing the body work yourself? If not maybe consider purchasing complete reproduction front fenders. They are about $600 CDN each, but a bodyman can eat that up quickly and then you are starting with fresh metal.

I had planned to have my patched as well, but my bodyman showed me the math and said I would end up with the same $$$ and have patched fenders.

Something to consider.

I have heard that the mid 90's bench seats bolt in nicely.

Re: 56 Chev Pick Up

The truck comes with the patch panels for bottom of fenders and inside brace that has to be welded on.Any used fenders I have seen dont look so good and previous owner said he tried fibreglass and they didnt fit at all.
I see they are reproing them but 600 a piece plus tax seems alot at this point in time
I,ll send some pics when I pick up the truck

Re: 56 Chev Pick Up

I'm just starting a 56 project myself, so let's keep in touch, swapping ideas and info! I have lots to learn, and don't intend on reinventing the wheel.
