Stock Radio

My brother just got an 88 burban and wants to replace the radio that has tuning problems with a new stock one. All that we could find in LMC or Brothers were old style radios with the new technology that have a different digital look. He just wants the bone stock analog radio. Any suggestions on where to find one?

Re: Stock Radio

The factory radio in my 81 never worked well. It was hooked to an aftermarket antena that didnt look like it was in bad shape. Anyway I bought a new aftermarket antena and coaxle and hooked it up. No improvement.
Then I noticed the factory original coaxle was still under the dash. The one that goes to the antena thats in your windshield. For the heck of it I plugged it in. Guess What? To my amazement the radio works as good as can be now!
Why? I have no idea because you would think that a new external aftermarket antena would work better. But that sure isnt the case with my radio.

My trucks radio has two knobs, switches. One for <on /off> the other to adjust the radio. Plus tabs in between the knobs that you can push to change radio stations. Its the same mechanical style of radio that came in 70s era trucks so im guessing its the same as a chevelle.
I live in a remote spot with hills between me and the radio station that I was trying to hear. The difference in recepion was all the difference in the world.
