Door panels
Right now I have the stock style door panels that are held on by oversized bolts. They are getting to be in rough shape. We were thinking of getting stainless steel cut to the proper dimensions and putting that in place of the panels.
Has anybody tried this? Would I be better off just going with some nice black carpet or other material? |

That would look great, especially with a stainless dash panel.

Here is a photo of one of my panels after I removed it from the truck. All of the other trim in the truck was black, so I wanted to change the color of the panels also. I used canned vinyl paint and it seemed to work good. I'm not sure how well it will stand up over time however.

Here is the after pic. I'm just waiting for new mounting hardware to show up in the mail before I can reinstall it.

How durable is the dye and how often do you have to redo it to keep it looking good?

It dyes the vinyl. So unless you scratch it you shouldnt have any problems.

I used to drive the 67 quite a lot and it has been on there for years. It does wear a little on the seats where you slide in and out.

that is because you are wearing down the actual vinyl. Not the paint
