fast grille removals for secret location

I searched around and couldn't find anything detailed enough...

HOPEFULLY Going this weekend to pick up a few grilles - I have to pull them though and have a limited amount of time. Perhaps someone will have an answer or two.

I am pulling a 71 outter/inner - there are rivets on it and bolts.... not sure where they are all at or what tools I might need.

I am also going to pull a 67 and 2 68-69s (one GM) - I started 2 of them but had to give up as I ran out of time and couldn't find all the danged connection points.

I have to walk quite a ways and fight through a jungle to get to them so I can't really carry or haul all my tools, a compressor, etc. I did manage to drill out and take home a sway bar and all the brackets... so I know it can be done (the grilles) but it was a pain. I just have to avoid pulling bumpers and fenders as it eats up time.

If anyone can tell me size, location, chisel, etc, I would appreciate it greatly.
(not just the grilles either but if there are any tricks to say, headlight buckets, fender parts of the grilles, etc)

I'm kinda in a race for time as I am swampped at work and home/momma/baby girl etc and don't have any experience with anything other than my 72 (and that's why I need one of the grilles! hahaha)
And I'm afraid my secret location will be discovered.....

On 69-72's, drop the bumper, remove headlight bezels, unbolt the four (if I remember correctly) bolts attached to the latch and center support, remove the eight bolts that hold the outer grille brackets to the fenders and pull straight out. It will sneak out past the headlights. Don't mess with the rivots just leave the brackets on the grille. A wobble socket and long extension work good for getting those bolts, I believe they're 1/2''.

Re: fast grille removals for secret location

MUCH appreciated! I was over thinking it and didn't even consider leaving the brackets attached... Now as for the 67s and 68s... and is there a center bolt at the bottom of the 68 gm grille? (I think it was a 68 - it had two marker lights at the bottom just above the bumper - seperate chrome on each fender and another thinner chrome strip across the top).... Again, any info is much appreciated and as you can tell by the time, my day has just finished up...

Re: fast grille removals for secret location

Maybe somebody else will chime in on the 67/68's. I haven't had one of those for about eight years, I'm a little rusty on those.

the 67-68s (two bolts on top and two bolts on bottom on bolth sides)=8
then i think theres 4 in the latch( 1 bottom 1 center and 2 on top) then 4 screws in each headlight bezzel.
then two nuts on each turn light or just dissconect the wires and pull thoes with the grille

On the 67-68, if you want to take the gravel pan too, they can be a bear since they are probably at the lowest point and get very rusty. The last one I pulled, I had the guy lift the truck up so that I could get to them. Another one was on two flat front tires, so I couldn't get to the bolts. When I came back later with a jack, the truck had been crushed.
