Re: What years/trucks were aux battery trays used in?
67-72,mostly in camper packages. It was an option in itself.A later model tray won`t fit.I`ve had trucks where a p.o. made their own.

Re: What years/trucks were aux battery trays used in?
there are quite a few pics of them over in the parts forum - you posted and/or made a thread over there - in the past two days i've seen at least 4 related posts, TeeItUp (Randy?) has one for sale - $120 shipped - it's been sandblasted and powdercoated.
Search feature at the forum is your friend Menawhile, special-K - was there some special provision on the core support that allowed the aux tray to be mounted to it? I only see two bolt holes lining up the tray to the inner side of the core support.

Re: What years/trucks were aux battery trays used in?
they'll mount up with no special provisions if I remember right I installed one in the longhorn... it came with one originally, but I replaced the whole front clip from my old GMC 1500, which was not equipped with it... I don't remember doing anything special.
I'll unbolt it and ship it to someone if the offer is good. |

Re: What years/trucks were aux battery trays used in?
Good question.I guess Andy may have answered it.I`ll check it out today. But,I`m pretty sure there`s a provision in all core supports.I believe at least one mounting bolt is shared with the voltage regulator.

Re: What years/trucks were aux battery trays used in?
Ok....that's weird, because I have an aux tray, and my original '68 front clip just doesn't seem to have the factory holes associated with that part.
I'll need to tear it all down and look at it again some time this week.

Re: What years/trucks were aux battery trays used in?
My 1970 GMC Longhorn had a really nice one until I took it out. It lives in a garage container now.

Re: What years/trucks were aux battery trays used in?
Ok, uhm, are you guys sure auxillary battery trays were available for the 67-68 pickups?
I ask because my 68 half ton SWB absolutely -does-not- have provisions for an auxillary battery tray. Check this out (pic attached) See the five red circles? Those are where the bolt holes *must* to be for the auxillary battery tray to bolt up. So, I guess I am not convinced that the '67-68 C10 half ton pickups came with provisioning for the auxillary battery tray. I am on the hunt for a new core support anyhow, mine is rusted out ... need a new passenger inner fender also!

Re: What years/trucks were aux battery trays used in?
They weren`t available in shortbeds. They have different core supports without holes..........Could you feel a tug on your leg?You may be on to something. It may be a`69-up thing. The core supports are different and no one`s come forward with one in a 67/68,yet.

Re: What years/trucks were aux battery trays used in?
So, nobody has a 67-68 half ton core support with provision for an auxillary battery tray, eh? I knew it didn't exist, damnit!!
But it's weird that Andy, Jerry and yourself think you've seen one in all trucks from 68-72. 67-68 use a different core support than the 69-72. i wonder if this could be one of the differences between them. Weird.

Re: What years/trucks were aux battery trays used in?
I have two 72's, one with and the other without the tray. I'll look to see if the one without has the bolt provisions. I know the 67-68's have a gravel guard at the bottom, in front of the core support where as the 69-72's do not. Not sure what other differences between core supports.

Re: What years/trucks were aux battery trays used in?
I saw this one on ebay a month or two back, it was a Aux Batt tray home-fabbed for a 67 (C-20 I think). The seller seemed rather knowledgable about GM trucks and stated that there was no such critter back then so the PO made this one. I thought it was kinda cool so I saved the pics. Looks like he may have had to re-locate the horn but that is easy.
