need some advice on testing radios
I posted earlier about hunting for an original AM or AMFM radio. I plan on hitting a few yards in the next few days and was wondering how you guys would test a radio without actually hooking up the hot wire to the fuse panel. Also I had an offer to buy a radio from a board member that is missing a knob. I looked throught the parts catalogs on the board and cant find just knobs. Will knobs off of another GM vehicle or radio work till I can come across matching knobs? Thanks in advance and I consider all opinions.
Dave

Almost any auto knob will work. I never test JY radios, as I never pay much for them. If it don't work, I'm only out (less than five dollars).

Were the original radios backlit? If they were mine seems to be burned out. How would you go about replacing the bulb if there was one?

71 Blazer, there is a long tube that screws into the back of the radio. Just screw it out and replace the bulb.

you can get the radio and hook it up to a battery charger or a car battery. They aren't hard to test. I fix car stereos all the time. So I have my own car stereo power supply and work bench. Just make sure you have the polarity correct or you will fry the radio.

Take your 12V electric drill with you and use it to power the radio!
