Re: I Need Headers, manifold Or Block Huggers
I remember my dad saying he went thru three different brands/makes of headers on his 70gmc back in the early 80's. I know when I got his truck in highschool in 93 he had some old headman stickers in the glove box. I will ask him if he remembers what brand worked. I do seem to remember they both dump pointing tward the rear of the truck.

Re: I Need Headers, manifold Or Block Huggers
I Don't Know TechNICALLY How Low My Truck Is. I've Had It For A Week Now. it Has 18 Inch Rims That Im Removing For Stock Wheels. The Collectors Are About 2 Inches Lower Than The Frame. I Don't Know Where This Truck Is Going. My History Says It Will At Least Lay Frame. My 97 Dodge Ram Lays Body And My 62 Vw Bug Rag Top Keeps Getting Closer To The Ground.

Re: I Need Headers, manifold Or Block Huggers
Welcome aboard. I went with the Sanderson block huggers that showed for our trucks with a big block. My toughest part was getting them by the dipstick tube. That is where the collectors are and it makes it a little tight. I like the fit though and they work great for me on my 71 with a big block. I also ordered them with the biggest tubes they make on them.

Re: I Need Headers, manifold Or Block Huggers
Here are a pair of hedman's that i mentioned. They should give you the clearance you need, and for a few bucks more, you can get them with the thermal coating.
$145 at summit P/N 69640

Vinne how low is your truck??? Mine is too low and I'm raising it 1.5 inches and this should cure the problem. By doing this the long tubes should work. Post a picture of your truck. Is your truck lowered and if it is how mutch??? This could be your problem! esll.

Re: I Need Headers, manifold Or Block Huggers
The block huggers that the center tubes come straight down didn’t work for me, not because the tubes hit the mount but because the collector was right on top of the cross member, maybe if the engine was in the L6 position it would work but I don’t see how and keep a nice clean radius on the collector pipe.
I'm running shorty headmans, but I had to clearance the inside of the frame rail to make them fit. All my exhaust is tucked above the lower frame rail.

This Is The Way I Got It. I've Had It For A Week Now. I'm Selling The Wheels. Putting The Stocks On W/hub Caps. I Was Going To Get New Springs Up Front But I Just Found Some Air Bags Laying Around. That I Will Install. It Will Always Be Low. The Only Vehicle I Have That's Not Is My Daily 4x4. My 99 Ram Is Bag And B/d. And My 62 Bug Is As Low As It Can Go. Thanks, vinnie

Re: I Need Headers, manifold Or Block Huggers
Yo Vinnie, I have a new set of Hedman Chevelle shorty headers for sale. $85 plus shipping. I was going to use them on my 68, but decided to ceramic coat some ram horns instead. I sent you a PM on them a couple days ago.

Re: I Need Headers, manifold Or Block Huggers
Well, like I said, I decided to ceramic coat a set of ram horns instead. I like to be different. Will they fit? There are at least a dozen trucks running around with them on that I can think of right off the bat. Two or three people in this thread alone have recommended them to you.......

Re: I Need Headers, manifold Or Block Huggers
Not tryin to step on any toes on a sale here,(damn good price) however......if those headers are going on a stick shift truck, you need to think about where that bell crank fits. You may have clutch linkage issues. IMO, the 69640 hedmans farther up the page , may be a better fit (STICK SHIFT). crazyL

Re: I Need Headers, manifold Or Block Huggers
Stock Rams Horns on a 305 from a late-70's Monte Carlo seen below. I was also under the impression the 305 was not around until the late '70's, as mentioned someplace above.
