How best to weld stake pockets?
One of my middle stake pockets is detaching from the inner bed due to heavy use. Here's a pic;
 I have never done any welding,only sweating pipes.What do I need to do to get a very strong weld on this? Thanks-Brian

I would drill out the remaining spot welds, grind the metal clean, spray some weld thru primer and drill some 3/8" holes where the spot welds were and plug weld it back in place. Just my suggestion.

Hey thanks. I may just take it in and have a pro do it,but I wanted some ideas anyway. Always did want to get a welder but I don't know squat about the subject.-Brian

I was going to suggest the exact same thing.

Thanks guys,but at this stage in life I don't think I'll be going to college to fix a stake-pocket! Probly just pay the man.LOL
I know they rent welders at one of the Home Depots around here.Maybe I'll practice on some scrap and then do what Aaron says. Thx again. Brian
