Did they ever make brackets for the short and fat compressor to be used with the multiple v belt setup ? Reason I ask is I have the old Harrison log compressor, and it's in good working shape but I'm not gonna buy R12 for it again, and people tell me it doesn't work worth a damn and leaks like crazy with R134.

I know the short and fat compressor isn't the greatest, but it's a so cheap to buy and if I can get it to work with the belt setup I have that would be great. The fact that it can use R134 is great and it'll save some money.

I really want the late 90's Vortec serpentine setup with the Delphi compressor but that may be down the road a ways as far as costs so I'm figuring out alternatives.

Get an early-80's fullsize Ford car compressor, you can pick a rebuilt one off ebay for next to nothing. The one in my '88 Lincoln runs on R134, has had air in the system (forgot to vacuum it out) for over an year already, and still tries to freeze my hands when I have the HVAC set to "panel". I bet you won't find a bracket for that, but it can't be too hard to fabb them on yer own seeing how the compressor only has 4 bolts that hold it. Go to a junkyard and look, then think where and how you can mount it, then go to ebay and purchase a reman unit that's been converted to r134.

My '86 has the R4 radial compresor with V belts.

If you were to fab something up, I would use a modern compressor (Sanden?)and an Alan Grove bracket. That's what I will do next time.

A friend did that on his V8 S10. It uses a lot less horsepower, and does not make the annoying growling sound that my R4 makes. He just had to have hoses custom built, but most A/C shops can do that. I'm told that some NAPA stores can build them as well.

Yep, some NAPA stores have machine shops and can do custom pressure hoses, applications varying from A/C to power steering to engine oil cooling lines.

i just looked at an '83 chevy half ton 2wd that has the short, fat, and dual v-belt setup in it....so they made them
