dome switch was on the options list?

This truck had this on the glove box sticker - it had the cargo lamp on the back of the cab - Inside the cab, under the dome light, was a small slider switch that looked like someone had stuck it in there and tried to make it look factory... I take it from the sticker, it was indeed factory? Anyone have any pics of what they look like so I can confirm? Thanks.

Re: dome switch was on the options list?

The factory cargo light switch is located under the dome light. Just a little sliding switch with two positions. The SPID option is referring to the door switches located in the front part of the door jams that turn the dome light on/off when the door opens/closes. All newer cars have this feature. Both my 72's have this, but neither is mentioned on the SPID. My 70 had the raised provision on the jam, but no switches. 67's and 68's don't have the raised provision...not sure about 69's. Handy thing to have and easy to install...just drill two holes and run the wires.

Re: dome switch was on the options list?

Guess I'll grab it on my next trip back... got the cargo light but left the switch where it was... The truck did have the switches on the door jambs too.... guess that makes it a 69 correct?

Re: dome switch was on the options list?

If you want you can delete the cargo switch and just use the headlight or door dome switches to turn the cargo light on. On my green and white I did that and filled the factory hole for the cargo light switch. Just a thought.

Re: dome switch was on the options list?

Actually, I was collecting parts - I grabbed the cargo light in case I ever decide I need one on my 72 (not likely) but it was there. I was more curious about the switch under the dome light (for the cargo light) and if it was original. Thanks all.

Re: dome switch was on the options list?

The switches were not standard on the truck, but came in the CST/Cheyenne/Cheyenne Super models. So if the truck has switches, and not listed, and not a CST or better, then they were added.
