Motor Shot Craps Saturday.

Was hauling some junk to scrape saturday truck overheated and now wont start sounds like metal grinding together. So is it toast? I am not a mechanic by anymeans as most of you know. So what do I do? Sell it and buy something to get back and forth to work? Or save up and fix it the way I want it?

You don't say what engine you have but you can pick up the V-8's pretty reasonable. Depending on what kind of shape it's in, I think I would put it back on the road.....

Re: Motor Shot Craps Saturday.

It doesn't sound good, but I'd try to get some help from someone from the board that's local to give it a listen and a once over.

If it is the engine, dropping in a rebuilt isn't a big deal - or building the engine you ultimately want. Figure on $1200 on the low-end, $2700 on the high end.

Re: Motor Shot Craps Saturday.

what kind of grinding sound is it makeing exactly? while youre trying to start it? while its running? what?

but what im thinking is when it overheated the cylenders got scored and now the rings are grinding inside, you can get a rebuilt fairly cheap compared to rebuilding this one, goodluck with it
