Help, how do I remove this??
I am trying to replace my axle seals but ran into a snag. After I removed the diff cover I tried to remove the lock screw that holds the pinion shaft in. The damn lock screw snapped probably about mid way in the threads. There's not really enough room to get a drill in there so I can pre-drill a hole to use a bolt extractor on it. What else can I do?? This is my DD so I need help ASAP.

Probably the best thing you can do is put it back together so you have something to drive until you can find another rear end...... The chances of getting the end of the bolt out without having to destroy something is slim to none. There was a thread on this a month or so ago so you might do a search on it. LockDoc

Re: Help, how do I remove this??
There is a special tool to drill that bolt out--it comes as a complete kit. it's really simple to do and quite common, i've taken out several over the past 22 years of turning wrenches for a living. not sure if parts stores carry them but snap on, matco and mac tool trucks all have them.

Do you guys happen to know a part number or anything for that special tool? I can't seem to find it.
