I recently bought a 78 GMC midas RV for $900 it was running when I bought it got it home and parked it to start reworking it and i moved it in the yard and now it won't start not getting fuel to the fuel pump. It has a 350 with a QJ. Any ideas why?

Filter? Sock in the tank? Level in the tank? (that's the first thing I would check).

Re: Won't Start

It has plenty of gas and it was running fine till then. What would be the best way to blow out the gas line from the tank to the fuel pump? tks

Re: Won't Start

I agree with krue on the sock, You could remove the gas cap and apply air through the line from the pump to back flush the sock. Sometimes if they are badly plugged the air will blow it off the pick-up tube, Which wouldn't be a bad thing as long as there is a in-line filter.

Re: Won't Start

Lets start with the basics. How do you know it's not getting fuel to the pump? If you are sure it's not getting fuel to the pump, it could be the pump. If it has been sitting a while before you got it the diaphragm in the pump could have dried out.

Give us more details so we don't have to speculate so much.

Re: Won't Start

If you have a compressor, pressurize the tank. Take a rag and wrap it around the filler tube and blow air in the tank. This could help free any restrictions. If that doesn't help, take the line off "before" the fuel pump and try again. If you get fuel out of the line, your pump is shot.

Re: Won't Start

when you turn the key on, do you have fuel pressure from the fuel line running to the carb? if not, could be a grounding issue on the fuel pump...

I will assume that it's a manual fuel pump. That would eliminate a grounding problem.
