WIW - 71 SWB fleet 2WD in pieces?
It's local to me and easily delivered.
71 or 72 SWB, 2WD, rear coil, frame was stripped and repainted, new brake lines, front disc, new rad, cab was stripped and primed (good shape), steel bed with all panels to make it a 68 SWB. power steering and pump, comes with an average 350 and tranny. Tons of other parts to finish it but it's stripped to the bone right now. Good steel floor too. My thoughts, 1. Use panels to complete my truck sell off my panels (SWB fleet) 2. Sell rolling chassis 3. Sell engine and tranny Prices, opinions? Any interest in parts if I buy?

Re: WIW - 71 SWB fleet 2WD in pieces?
Hmmm...that`s tough. What are they asking for it?Are all those red panels original paint/rustfree?Is the cab solid or repaired? With the little I know,I`d say $750-1,000.

Re: WIW - 71 SWB fleet 2WD in pieces?
All panels are rust free, one bed side has small damage to rear area. Tailgate looks nice, fenders, cowl, hood, bedsides, rad support (new rad) are in good shape. Frame has been blasted and repainted and cab is ready for paint, good doors. Comes with engine and tranny (running). 5 lug disc conversion, brakes and PS w/pump. I don't think he's going to take much less than $2K since it's basically a 68 SWB Fleet ready for assymbly (minus body work/paint).

Re: WIW - 71 SWB fleet 2WD in pieces?
Id buy it if everything is good body wise.It will save you the trouble of replacing and repairing body panels. Are you planning on using that cab?
If you do,the truck wont be a matching numbers truck or even titled as a 4x4 unless you violate the law and switch cabs.Though....2k seems like alot of money to spend on a truck for parts. For 2k you could replace and buy alot of panels for your 68 and you wont get that much back selling it without a body. For 2k,I would pass and spend the money repairing and replacing what I already have Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 02-11-2007 at 12:15 PM. |

Re: WIW - 71 SWB fleet 2WD in pieces?
the only thing I wanted to use is the bed and rad w/support. The rest would sell as a rolling chasis w/cab. Doubt that I will jump on it but it would be a good start for a 2WD project.

Geez I don't think it is a bad deal at all, but that is probably because I live where everything is all rusted out. Depends on how much of it you can use I guess.

Re: WIW - 71 SWB fleet 2WD in pieces?
I can "make do" and fix mine. I would hate to get stuck with another truck (even though I would like a 2WD SWB fleet someday!) since the wife would kill me. Maybe better if I don't go for an entire truck.
If anyone is interested I can put you in contact with John that owns the truck.

Re: WIW - 71 SWB fleet 2WD in pieces?
I told him I wanted the bed but he wants to keep it together. He has 3 other trucks, one is driveable and a shed full of parts that he had on Ebay for $3500 (for all 4). He was tlaking 2500 for this truck and the running LWB 68.

Re: WIW - 71 SWB fleet 2WD in pieces?
yep, hood is in the pic, rad support is correct and he said that he had the fenders in the shed. not sure about the inner fenders but he said it was all there to build a 68.

Re: WIW - 71 SWB fleet 2WD in pieces?
I could use a driver fender, inner fenders and rad support but can live without them if it comes to it. I have a great 67 fender but hate to cut out a marker light hole!

Re: WIW - 71 SWB fleet 2WD in pieces?
Is this the one Shannon is looking at?We talked on the phone yesterday. He`s working on it,if that`s the one.I gave him positive advise, but if that`s the one...it`s a better start than I envisioned.
