Fuel Pump Question
I bought a new Holley Mechanical Fuel Pump #12-454-11, for my 396 and it is good for 110 Gallons Per Hour. My thinking was that when I install my ECE rear mounted tank I want to have stronger fuel pump to get the gas the extra distance from back to front. I use the truck as a daily driver and occasionally blast it from a light . Is this pump overkill for me? Should I have have bought an 80 GPH pump instead? Will I have any problems because this pump is so strong?

Re: Fuel Pump Question
all the stock pumps worked just fine in rear gastanked bigblock suburbans . i think these expensive hi pressure hi volume fuel pumps are generally a waste of money and in fact cause more problems than they solve// stock type of pumps have no problems feeding 500+hp from rear mounted gastanks

Re: Fuel Pump Question
Thats what I was thinking aslong as you keep the pressure down you are right on track.
It is not Overkill IMO. RJ22 |

Re: Fuel Pump Question
What is fuel pressure all about? I'm running a rebuilt engine with an Edelbrock Carb?

Re: Fuel Pump Question
Esp with an edelbrock carb, you'll need to regulate the pressure. A stock pump is often too strong for an edelbrock carb
I'd say take it back if you can, there is no need for it what so ever. |
