but how much can i pull trailer wise? i saw somewhere that the 1/2ton can pull 6000lbs and the 3/4 can pull 9000lbs

I guess it depends on your differential ratio. According to the table for the '69s posted above,with 3.07s you can have a total weight (everything included) of only 6500 lbs.(doesn't sound right). Yet if you have 3.73s you can total 9500. I would take Graywolf's advice.Just be careful,and make sure your tires are in good shape and inflated properly.

well i have 3.07's, i dont pull a trailer but i want to now if i can and how much since i do have a hitch, everywhere we go with a trailer or big load its me and my bro in his f250 but i still want to pull a trailer just so i can and i didnt want to over pull, the trailer does have brakes so i guess its just a matter of if i want to do it or not

With 3.07s, I think anything over a few thousand pounds is going to be a flat out daaaawg. I pulled a 6000 lbs camp trailer with my '70 3/4 ton and it was happy as a pig in you-know-what chugging over the hills in second gear, but I've got a 4.10 rear and that reallly helps you A: Get rolling off the line, and B: Keep momentum in the hills. I would think neither you or your truck is going to be too happy towing much with those 3.07s.

Having a long wheel base truck will at least make it a little nicer to drive with a trailer hooked up, however.

I'm no expert but I do know that to be reasonably safe (not to mention legal,or insurable) you need to have a hitch rated for the weight of the trailer. I believe a frame mounted class 3 hitch is good up to 5000 lbs.Of course you will need to have a brake controller mounted in your truck.Also wiring for brake/turn lights.

I tow my 25' travel trailer weighing 6000 lbs. fully loaded with my 72K10. However, I have a strong frame mounted reciever, weight distributing hitch, great trailer brake controller, transmission cooler with a fan, aux. cooling fan on the radiator and an anti-sway system built into the hitch. Everything is rated higher than anything I'll ever tow. The system is properly set up and adjusted so it tows like a dream. The gear in my truck is a 3:73 and the 350 engine and TH400 tranny handle it just fine. I simply don't tow over 60 mph and I stay back a safe distance in traffic. I'm amazed at how many people pass me on the interstate towing huge 5th wheel trailers at 90 mph!

I figure its my 4 wheel drum brakes that limit my towing more than anything. With a 400sbc, little 27" tires, & 4.56 rear end, I'm good on the torque part.

My bumper is a very heavy step bumper held on with brackets cut from solid 1/2" sheet steel.

so would i physicaly be able to pull a 5500+lbs trailer or no?

because im looking into getting my own race car and ill need to pull it on a trailer myself if my brother races the same night i do, but if hes not racing and i am then itll be his truck doing the towing and if he is most likely ill only be pulling a car on a trailer and hell have his car and traailer with all the stuff in the bed of his truck
