Headers
I'm going to be getting some headers and i was wondering how easy it is to install them onto a 68' w/ a 396 and a/c but the compressor isn't in. Is it going to be hard or easy? Thanks!

I dont know much about the 396 but I made the swap to headers on my 70 350 and it wasnt hard at all. Took about 4 hours. I have pics of the swap so let me know if you would like to see them.

i did hedmann headers on my 69 with ac... so i dunno exactly how diff it is. if you've got the pass side compressor/bracket set like mine did i can tell you it wasnt very difficult. albeit i did cut the exhaust off as i was getting a new one with the headers. Make sure you check them header bolts again and again... i check mine like every time i do the oil or sooner since i tinker a lot.
The one thing i did find is that my pass side header (i think it's pass side) got dinged by the top part of the A arm bracket i believe, just a small dent but i'm sure it goofs the flow on that one cyl a li'l bit

Some headers might have to go in from the bottom. My Hooker Comps did on the driver side. I had to really get the truck up to do it.

On my SBC, i put the passenger side header in from the bottom, and the driver's side in from the top. It was a really easy job, just a little time consuming. I like to hear them run with no exhaust before they are hooked up to the rest of the system .

Hey HotRod929, Could I take a look at your headers install? I think I am getting an exhaust for Christmas and will be putting my headers on myself..
Any help is always a huge plus!
