Question No Lower Cups?

I've read that it's possible to run with no lower cups in the stock arms (63-87). Anyone with experience/opinions for or against this? I've already got 2.5" spindles and I don't care about laying out, but I do want a comfortably low ride hieght.

Re: No Lower Cups?

You might be able to run with no cups, but I wouldn't do it. I like cups just for the extra assurance the bring. You can always cut them down pretty low if you need to. It really is there to center the bag.

Yeah people say that you can, I tried it just to see what it would look like, and didn't like the way the bag was sitting.

Re: No Lower Cups?

I didn't use cups, but...I did use a flat peice of round plate to give the bottom of the bag a nice even surface to sit on. I'm also running RE-6s up front which helps with clearance. Here's the only pic I have at the moment.

Re: No Lower Cups?

Here is the bracket setup, from SD

http://*****************/67-87Fullsiz...rtBrackets.php

If you do want to go lower, some people make a "Reverse" cup for the lower A arm
That way you have lots of clearance around your bag & you can run no cup

Here is what I'm talking about

Re: No Lower Cups?

It looks strange from the top view. I know it's an optical illusion after see the bottom, but it looks like a peanut shaped cut out.

Nice Work.
