would you look at this knob?

I took this out of a 69 GMC - can't tell if it's original or painted over.... what'cha think? Any chance it's one of those hard to find ones?

Re: would you look at my knob?

I was thinking it had been painted - considering stripping the red to see what's underneath....

I don't think so. Seems I was reading a thread on here last week about some features that came on these trucks (options, or trim package) something that included red shifter knobs. someone else will know more about it.

Talking Re: would you look at my knob?

Looks like a knob for a PTO cable, or a throttle cable off a big truck? Just my guesstimate!

Re: would you look at my knob?

SM465 and NP205 knobs have the shift pattern engraved into the top of the knob. You would still be able to clearly read it even though it is painted.

Re: would you look at my knob?

It looks like there is a shift pattern under the paint - it's thick. When you say "engraved", is it deep or actually flush? I took it off a tranny - 2wd - I have no use for it so I'm going to strip it...

not all of them, a friend of mine has a 70 blazer with a 205 and it has a chrome handle and plain black shift knob with nothing engraved into it
