Question to white wall or not to white wall

Okay...here we go, 1970, olive green metallic, custom/10. White bumpers front and rear, chrome or anodized steel grill, white wheels, white hubcaps...no mouldings. Going back orginal. Truck has 44,000 miles on it still had original tires on it when I got it...well they were in the back...white and black wall....black showing....but I have no idea what this truck came with....what do you think?? Will repaint the truck next year...bumpers and wheels are in the process now....wheels are primed today. Will paint this weekend and wrap in rubber next week. What do ya'll think will look better?? well we know what will look better...which will look more original on this truck?? as plain as they come almost...what size was original on these trucks?? 235 75/15?? thats what I was thinking...but maybe 225's?? opinions welcome...I love the look of some of the trucks on here that are original with white walls...but with white bumpers, wheels and hubcaps...is that overdoing it?? what did a plain janer come with?? I've also got a poll on here so if it works you can vote..lol. by the way....I'm going original...I do LOVE ralleys and big fat white lettered BFG's but...this one is so close to original I want to go this route. all opinions welcome!!

With that set up I would think thin white wall or white letters that way you dont over do it. If i was to vote i would go with the letters but you dont have that choice.

I don't know what would be 'factory correct' but I think blackwalls on a truck without trim and with white bumpers would look right. Probably small caps on this truck too? What's the opposite of bling-bling?

Re: to white wall or not to white wall

either one will look good, but i think with the thin white wall it will make it look more innocent and stock, but thin im a white wall/letter kinda guy, but i enjoy the black wall to and now i confused myself on which would look better so its up to you

Re: to white wall or not to white wall

yes, small hubcaps...they will have the black and blue on the inside painted...but yeah....very plain...not much bling to it...lol. But it will look original...just wish I knew what would've come on it from the factory.

Re: to white wall or not to white wall

I'm 95% positive that a base truck would have blackwalls from factory. Your best source of info would be factory brochures and ads from the era. In reviewing these, I saw whitewalls on suburbans only. Starting in 73 the brochures show them liberally.

Re: to white wall or not to white wall

I have been looking at ads in one of our parts books and I see alot of thin white walls....I see a few black walls....there is no ryhme nor reason...I see both on nice and plain trucks so I don't know I'm thinking white wall...just dont' knwo if thats to much with the white steel wheels and white hubcaps...wish I could see a picture of one that had the white wheels and hubcaps with white walls...maybe someone could photoshop it?? that would be cool

Re: to white wall or not to white wall

Man wish I could help on what came factory but, I can't

I personally am not a fan of white walls so my vote came acordingly.

I'm with cameeks I like white letters but thats not a choice or nor would it have been factory.

Re: to white wall or not to white wall

I'm pretty sure a "plain jane" would have only blackwalls coming from the factory, wasnt back then whitewalls were a option and cost more?
