Help Needed - Fuel pickup tube sock - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Anyone have any idea where I can get a new sock for my fuel pickup tube?

I've called local parts houses and looked in LMC and it doesn't appear anyone has this part available.

My guess is something from a different model or year will fit, any ideas.

I'd give one of the board vendors a call, I'm sure any of them can help you out.

Personally, I go without. Never had an issue with damaging a pump, and I've has dome nasty tanks too. This way, it actually gets the crap out of the tank instead of keeping it there to create bigger problems.

good point, and just put a inline filter before the pump, i have a filter on the hose comeing off the tank inside the cab and another one inbetween the pump and carb

so where do you catch the dirt ? in small filters in front of the fuel pump? do you carry a spare electric fuel pump, filters and tools with you everywhere ? without the sock and running a less than new tank a lot of stuff must go thru that pump and get caught in little filters which will then clog up quicher so I can see advantage of leaving the tank filter out ..not ?

he aked where to get one not weather or not to run one sorry should have read more carefully ..if its a stock tank GM dealer should have it .. LOCDOC had the right answer !

I'll try and come up with a tougher question next time.
