Help!

Something strange is happening in my ignition. When I give it any amount of throttle it bogs out like it loses spark to all cylinders then picks up again. The only way to get going from a stop is to go real easy on the gas. If I try to rev the engine it does the same bogging type thing and the tach will jump all over from 0 all the way to about 1500. I just changed the plugs and wires and made sure all the wires are were they need to be and the plugs are all gapped to .045. Its a 350 with a stock HEI. I changed the coil and module about 3 months ago. As fate would have it this had to happen on the last day of my break....HELP!

Re: Help!

I replaced the cap and rotor at the same time as the coil and module with an MSD set but I'll check it again. Theres no cat on it so that can't be it. I've been runnin the same dizzy for the last 7 years, could it just be going bad?

Re: Help!

Check your accelerator pump - stare into the primarys (with air cleaner off) and hit the throttle a bit (engine off) with your hand - look to see a strong squirt in both barrels. It's there to provide 'tip in' power.

Your coils not grounding well, make sure that the seprate "arm" thingy that gets screwed down with the coil is making a good connection.

I had the same problem with one of my LT1s.....it would drive fine then all of a sudden with out warning the tach would go berserk and it would cut out and backfire. I spent about $40 worth of worthless **** I didnt need when it turned out to be a corroded ground.

Thats what my experience tells me anyway.

Re: Help!

Well I got it fixed, I opened up the distributor and the coil burnt up on of the wires. So I spent the extra money and got an Accel super coil and the module to go with it so I could get rid of both of the POS hecho en mexico pieces of garbage that I had in there. Started right up on the first crank and ran nice and smooth. Anyone ever run the Accel units? Any surprises I should know about? And thanks for the helpful advice.
