Removable steering wheel luck?

Hey all, It's been a while since I've been on here , almost forgot where to go and what to do, but I am here with a question, wondering if anyone has used or know where to buy a quick release hub or somthing that would bolt onto a stock tilt column 67-72 chevy truck column, so as to be able to remove steering wheel as a slight deterent of theft.

I have searched a couple of sights , but most are for weld-on hub style and or for race car applications, I just think it would be way cool to be able to deter a thief walking buy and notice no wheel, but finding this particular application that could be bolted or splined and than have some sort of quick release , reliability must be a factor , If there isnt, maybe one of you guys with a cnc machine ought to get busy designing and building, who knows might be a prety good market.

anyone use any kind of steering wheel that can easily be removed , lets see some photos, would love to see.

I’ve seen them before the slogan is no wheel, no steel. But I don’t know where to get one anymore.

I have the grant one. it will move the steering wheel about an inch and half closer to you...the only thing I dont like about it.
I ordered it through O'Reilly's.

Hi there,

Interesting, never heard of this before. Just wondering if a guy new your truck and wanted to steel it could he not just bring along his own wheel?

Re: Removable steering wheel luck?

no they can not just bring there own wheel, atleast with the grant. You lock a plate in it's place with a key, so unless they have a key they can not remove that plate.

Re: Removable steering wheel luck?

One more reason to just prime it.

Reminds me of the guy in Detroit with a Ferarri and a Pit Bull for an alarm system. He parked his little red ride in a questionable part of town and when he came back to his car he noticed the dog was gone and a note on the steering wheel. It read like this .... Next time it's your car!!

Re: Removable steering wheel luck?

well, thanks , I am off to the Grant sight to check it,
If somone wants to steal it, they will . I am just trying all precautions possible, I moved out here to southern caly, and the mexican border is like real close, If it got snagged , it could easily make its way to Mexico , and I would most deffinately never see it again, would really suck, considering the $$$ I got into it...... thanks guys, I will research Grant.... and let you know what I find

Re: Removable steering wheel luck?

awesome sight, and has just what I was looking for , thanks guys, grant has it for my application too, a little bit more than I anticipated spending, but I think $200 plus ,for a easily removable wheel kit is cheaper than replacing the truck if stolen....... I like the motto..... " No Wheel- No steal" .

Re: Removable steering wheel luck?

I suggest a kill switch as well. I have the grant, kill switch, hood locks and I park in the garage...oh and it's just in primer. I'm not paranoid....
