What is the lowest you would drop without notching the rear frame??
I am planning on going 6 inch drop in the rear of my '67 but some people will notch the rear at this height and some won't.. how much suspension travel would I have left before hitting the frame?
I can't measure mine at the moment, since it's all apart. Thanks!

Re: What is the lowest you would drop without notching the rear frame??
according to the experts at ECE (early classic enterprises) the lowest static drop without notching is a 4 in the front and 6 in the rear or a 4/6 drop.

4/6 is really common to go with and no cutting

Re: What is the lowest you would drop without notching the rear frame??
I have a 5" drop in the rear of mine and I have plenty of room for another inch with no clearance issues.

Re: What is the lowest you would drop without notching the rear frame??
The problem with a 6" drop in the rear is that you'll never be able to haul much weight or you'll be riding on the bumpstops or worse, the frame. I have a 5" drop and have cut the bumpstops so that the axle will hit those just before the frame if it were to ever be loaded that far.

Re: What is the lowest you would drop without notching the rear frame??
6" on a SWB
5" on a LWB Then they will both sit about the same height due to the extra weight out on the back end of the LWB. |

Seriously though, hmmmmm I'm not sure I agree with your statement however I'm 1500 miles away from my truck and can't argue with no way to back it up. I just don't think the 12" is going to make a difference.....although women have told me otherwise.

Re: What is the lowest you would drop without notching the rear frame??
i think you could do it without removing the box, but it would be a serious b#$ch! i took my bed off in about 10 minutes and 4 guys and i promise it would save you tons of time in the long run.
