I know a couple of you guys have em
what do you think ? I've heard they are notchy shifting , maybe because
there built well ? pros / cons ?
I have one brand new that did'nt go with my 66 Chevelle when I sold it.
I could sell it and get a lil over 2k but it sounds fun and at this point I don't
drive my truck everyday so its reasonable vs. rebuilding my t350 and adding
o/d (Gearvendors) I would prefer the atm but the 6 speed is paid for and
would sure be fun ! 1st gear if I recall correctly is 3.06 which would go well
with my 3.07 rear gears but would 6th gear be worthless ??

R.O.D 6spd's have several 1st gear options but 3.06 isn't one of them. 3.06 is the 1st gear ratio of a 700r4.

R.O.D's 1st gear range is 2.88, 3.01, & 3.27 (the 3.01 might be what you have). The claim that they are 'notchy' feeling when shifting IMO is based on selective judgement.

What's notchy to one guy that's used to a T-5 or T56 is standard shift feel to the guy that's used to a Muncie or T-10. I think the biggest item that people feel difference in is the internal rail shift system vs the external shift rods.

I would run one if the price is right. The T56 can be had stronger (in aftermarket form) for the same $$, but the gear ratios don't work well w/these trucks.

I knew someone looking for a R.O.D-6 not too long ago.

I put one of these in a car, and it has IMO a 'trucky' feel, and did not like speedshifting. As thigs wear down, that may change, or perhaps you could bevel the ends of the shift sliders a bit. it was also noisy for the first week, which ROD stated was normal, andi it did calm down.

Would overdrive be worthless? I'd say that is totaly dependent on tire size and how much torque you make. In my Diesel Sub, I dream of a 50% OD every day.

Ive heard nothing but bad about anything Richmond, especially their gears....

Borg Warner is the way to go if you want a 6sp.
