Question About Brake Parts Interchanging

Will the spindles, rotors, etc off of a 85 Chevy pickup bolt up to a 67 Chevy Pickup? Thanks in advance.

Matt

Re: Question About Brake Parts Interchanging

I am new to the world of 67-72 trucks too, and I am also converting to disc brakes. From what I have been told, you can use 71 to 87 for the front crossmemeber. Once you do that you will have a 5 lug system for the front. As long as you have a 2wd. If you are planning on changing the rear to 5 lug too, which I recommend, you will need the rear axle from a 71-72 truck. Those are the only two years with 5 lug and coil springs. Hope this helps.

Re: Question About Brake Parts Interchanging

you will have to change your upper and lower ball joints and outer tie rods but yes it will work 71 - 86 another option is to swap the entire k-frame crossmember and all wont have to mess with springs that way easy swap

Re: Question About Brake Parts Interchanging

I had planned on changing ball joints, tie rod ends, bushing etc. With that being said, will the A arms off the 67 work with the 85 spindles? If I am not mistaken you would have to cut the crossmember out and I really don't want to do that unless I have to.

Thanks Matt

Re: Question About Brake Parts Interchanging

I went out and looked at the front end of the truck. I didn't realize that the front crossmember was bolted. So that would be the way to go to change over to disc brakes. I picked up a power brake booster and MC from a 69 truck that had power drum breaks. Would that work for the power disc? The proportioning valve was gone on the 69 so I will have to find a proportioning valve. I wonder if the PV off the 85 would work as a donor? Any suggestions?
