Sheetmetal thickness

Anyone know what gauge thickness the sheet metal on body panels are made from? I need to make a small patch for my drivers door & dont know what to get. Hope to have my truck painted flat black by the end of June. Thanks in advance...

Re: Sheetmetal thickness

What? You mean you don't have a huge pile of old cabs, fenders, doors, hoods, boxes and on and on just lying around that you could snip off a little bit of metal for a patch panel?? Are you sure you are a truck guy???

Just messing with ya...and no, I have no idea what gauge the metal is.

Re: Sheetmetal thickness

I just measured it today and it was about .047 with primer on it so I'm saying 19 guage. At least this is what I'm going to purchase if like cg and earl said I run out of hood and fenders.
