HELP which tie rod ends do I use

I have a 69 c-10 2wd shortbed

the problem is that I put a crossmember and front suspension out of an 84 1/2 ton diesel truck

the end of the tie rod that screws into the adjuster sleaves from the 84 front end is much bigger than what was used in 69

Is there a tie rod end that will work in the 73-86 1/2 ton suspention?

the 69 tie rod end is too small where it bolts into the spindal

Please help me!!!!

I think there's a vendor that makes a sleeve to fit both ends. I'm sure someone will remember better than I do.

Re: HELP which tie rod ends do I use

If you're using the whole front suspension, including steering linkage, off the 84, why do you need different tie rod ends? I'm going to use the entire suspension off an 84 1/2 Ton burb diesel, including tie rods and all....The way I took it of, is the way it's going back on my 70....

Re: HELP which tie rod ends do I use

If you're using the old drums with the new crossmember then I'm not sure there is an adapter. The adapters I have seen are for the correct year inner tie rods and newer outer tie rods with larger diameter threads. I don't think you can just turn the adapters around because one tie rod end is left hand threaded and the other is right hand threaded.

If you are using the original steering sector and pitman arm/idler arm you should be able to go with the original drag link with stock tie rod ends and adjusters.

(edit)
OK I think I get it now.

Using the original drag link and trying to use new outer tie rod end.

Can't use the original tie rod end because the taper isn't right.

I got a complete front end kit from CPP and it had the adapter.

Their adapter number: CP4SCS http://www.classicperform.com/Store/...uck/CP4SCS.htm
