I had that happen on a 68 Mercury. The shoe had cut through the drum on the right front. I had no idea that it was that bad until it cut all the way through. Boy did it pull hard to the left.

Re: rear brakes are all fu**ed up!!!

The only way I know of to check gear ratios that is fool proof is to remove the rear differential cover and look on the ring gear for the tooth count stamp. It will say something like 41 11 (3.73) or 43 14 (3.08) etc.. You figure out the ratio by dividing the larger number by the stamped smaller number. Your trucks probably have 3.73,4.11,or 4.56 rear gears - depends on how they were optioned when ordered.

Re: rear brakes are all fu**ed up!!!

ok yall, i got my rear brakes all back together. they were messed up bad, worse than they looked if thats possible. the PO took the rear passenger brake line off and put a nail in it and put it back on, must have been leaking. new drums, brakes, wheel cylinders, and springs. they work good now. sorry no pics but i worked on that damn thing from 7am to 3pm and i was so tired of messin with it i just wanted it done. trucks been sitting for 2 weeks and any time it sits it runs like crap for a little while.
