Re: My $260 exhaust system is cancelled

I had heard the same thing about the valves sucking cold air before too. Sorta think that was before the harder valves used now or just a old farts tail. But also heard that for optium performance the engines were designed to have a certain amount of back-pressure. And that is why 2 1/2 or 3 inch exhausts were made.

Thats a stupid price! Whats up with these exhaust shops? I know there must be some good shops with friendly service and good customer care but I didn't find one around here. The shop that did my work tried to kick me out of the service area before I even told them how I wanted it done. I stood my ground and told them that I was the customer, I was paying the bill, it is my truck and I wanted it done a certain way and we need to be on the same page before you even start! The manager cooled his jets and talked to me about what I wanted. The mechanic looked at me like he wanted to kill me. He would not talk to me at all. After he finished the work I heard the truck start and he drove it around front. When he got out he had a big grin on his face and said "Man, thats a nice truck!" Totally different person. So it ended well.

Re: My $260 exhaust system is cancelled

I have a local place called Old Gold, they specialize in classic chevy vehicles. He ballparked $350 for mine, cheaper if I had headers not ramhorns. That was for a 68 SWB K-10 with basic cheap cherry bomb type mufflers. I figured that it wasn't bad for a custom (non-Midas) shop.
