Lower rear or install exhaust ... Which comes first?
I'm nearing the finish line with only two more big jobs to do. I would like to have exhaust installed, then lower the rear end with coils at a later date. Will this work or should i do the lowering first? Or, maybe it won't matter. Your experience appreciated.

If you let the exhaust guy know in advance that you will be lowering it in the future, you shouldn't have a prob doing the exhaust now & lowering later.
But.... If you're not 100% sure of the exhaust guys abilities, get the lowering done first. This helps ensure that when the pipes are routed, everything clears w/o issue.

If you end up using an adjustable panhard bar when you lower it you may have problems. The one I have (ECE) mounts in a different location than stock.

if youre goin to dump the exhaust before the axle then go ahead and do it now but if youre going to run it over the axle and out the back then id lower it first

Re: Lower rear or install exhaust ... Which comes first?
I'm right there with you and I recommend that you lower it first. The reason why is that even if you lower it a little, it changes the relationship of the angle of the trailing arm to the frame. This is assuming that you are running the exhaust through the crossmember. I don't think there is really any other clean way of doing it.

Re: Lower rear or install exhaust ... Which comes first?
I had my exhaust done when I was building the truck. Guy did a beautiful job. Then I lowered it, and the panhard bar mount was touching the right tailpipe. I ordered and installed an ECE super track bar to correct it. Now the right tailpipe rubs the bar. I now have to return the truck to the exhaust guy to re-do the right tailpipe. He aint gonna be happy with me....
Lower the truck, then do the exhaust.
