power steering junkyards and oh my

over the long weekend, I got alot done. Put on a new to me quadrajet carb, to better match my 305 and single plane intake, got rid of the hesitation with the holley 650 that was on there, still gotta adjust it a little more but drove 2 1/2 hours home and made it back too. Sat went to u-pull it and got power steering pump box and linkage for $80. looked for a long time and found some good ones. Saw some cool stuff and bought a roll bar for the scout for $17.Saw this cool rescue vehicle, and a custom minivan
Also saw this sweet hot rod.

Got home and took off the old steering box. Wanted to put the linkage I got on but had different size tie rod ends, didnt check to see if I could just switch the ends. My linkage isnt to bad, so I didnt worry about it too much. Had to notch the bumper bracket and bracket right above it. Put some spacers in between frame and steering box to fit.

I just gotta ask, the Hot Rod you were referring to is that little blue car with the polished snorkel? It.......was a joke right?

notched brackets, inner fenderwell, and shimmed, and *poof* installed.

had to shim power steering pump out to line up with my pulley, but other than that no real problems. Steers well and no groaning or noise at all even full turn.

haha, I had to see for myself, It was a joke. The big snorkel was just bolted to a plate under the hood, it looked real until you got up close. even saw the little muffler on the way out.

Re: power steering junkyards and oh my

just went out and took some more pics of the notches. I still have to line the pump up better.
Do I need to put the bolt in the pump bracket where the 1st bolt on the headers are? I can put long bolt and a spacer there if i need to.

Re: power steering junkyards and oh my

that rescue vehicle is a GI power wagon. That winch on the front alone is worth the $$$. If I were you I would go back and get that whole thing.

I agree with Mattz, I was afraid to say much about it being a joke, cause I didn't want to hear, oh that little blue car? That's mine!
