No, I don't know that there is a DRL module, per say. If you're just looking to disconnect them there is a fuse that you can pull...I forget which number.

Anyone else have any other ideas or experience with this one?
We just picked up a 1997 Chev Silverado Extended Cab 4x4 this weekend. It does have DRL's as well, and we would like to know how to disable them. There is a fuse in the drivers side door jam marked DRL/Fog, but removing that fuse doesn't do a thing.. Lights still come on. Any info would be great.. Thanks! |

Very common for these to go out actually. The module is nothing more than a diode incased in a heat sink.
The module is located just below the column on the right side. If you lay underneath the dash (drivers side) you'll see the bottom of the module. It's a black finned box with what looks like Sand in the bottom hole. These things overheat and short out. They simply slide out of the bracket or you can unbolt it. The new one comes with a mounting bracket but I've found it easier to just remove the bracket and use the vehicles bracket. Curious, why disable them? |

Piston, I had my first truck with DRLs about four years ago. I found it very frustrating that I couldn't flash my lights at anyone (for whatever reason). Also, I don't think having your lights on so that people can see you a 1/2 mile away helps any--you can't have a collision from a 1/2 mile away.
Those are my reasons, anyway.
