Brake Line ???'s

All of the aftermarket brake line companies separate the 67-69 and 70 year models, what is the difference from the 69 to 70 models on the 1/2 ton pickups... I only ask because I am getting ready to replace all of my lines, I am pretty sure the frame under my pickup is not the same frame the truck had originally. So, I need to Identify what I have before I order new lines.

I don't know..71 is when they went to discs up front.Maybe because the wider rear axle in the rear?

71 - wider axle, and the drum to disc change


but i dont know why the 69-70 would be different

70 was the transition year---when the rear axle widened.Some 70s were like the 69s,some were wide like the 71s

if that is true then I should be able to measure the rear axle. What measurements do I need?

measure the width from inside the backing plates

dont know thw specific years but for the rear end some the hose and t-coupler were in near the centersection and others were further out toward the backing plate and also on some years the rear frame rail brake line transitioned to the rubber hose in front of the axel and oter years it ran in back of the axel

My truck is not where I can look at it but I know the rear lines comes off of the passenger side frame rail into a rubber hose into a tee on the top of the the axel then travels along the top of the axel housing and is bent to clear the shock hangers then back down on the axel housing. Then into the backing plates.

I think this is what your talking about in the second part of your post... Correct me if I am wrong.

Update... The Tee fitting has a bracket about six to eight inches from the differential housing towards the passenger side...

Does anyones match this... If so what year do you have...

Also my brake lines come off of the mastercylinder run along the outside of the frame and then down to the cross member under the engine.

If you have a LMC catalog, they have a great picture explaining the year differences if I remember correctly (I don't currently have a LMC catalog) (I don't buy from them, I just use the catalog at times like this, hehehe)

Here is the link to the only LMC stuff I could find it does not mention the difference between 67-69 and 70 year models. Or 71-72. This is getting frustrating.

The way you describe yours , T on pass left front, bent around shock mounts etc; is how my 71 C 10 is. I spose you know with a bender ,flaring tool ,and tubing cutter , you could do it cheaper tools and all

I would rather have someone else do the flaring and such I have never had any luck trying to flare stainless steel, much less double flare. Besides, my time is limited so I would like to have everything available.

I went ahead and ordered the Inline Tube Disc Brake conversion line set. It says its good for 67-70, but is designed for their conversion, I sure hope it works with early classic enterprises conversion kit.

Sorry, In the catalog I had, it referenced the master cylinder lines running on the inside or outside of frame.
