Where does the fiber optic cable go???
Working on a basket case in my shop. This thing barely had the body on the frame when it got here and I had to remove the body to get it painted.
Now..... The truck is nearly completed now with just of the few minor things to work out. I went thru the steering column, had it painted to match the truck and have it back in it home. I put the fiber optic cable into the back of the shift indicator but I have no idea where it gets it light source. Help me!!!!! (small fly imitation) Just one of the small things I have tried to research and can't find the answer to it anywhere.

Re: Where does the fiber optic cable go???
I thought it was just a small light bulb. At least it's that way in my 72 tilt column.
Am I wrong?

Re: Where does the fiber optic cable go???
The cable goes to a funny looking dash lamp holder on the back of the cluster. The regular dash bulb holders are black(iirc) while the cable one is white. It has a little metal tab that the end of the cable snaps into to provide light. The odd holder is usually near the speedo.
Hope this helps - Bob

Re: Where does the fiber optic cable go???
I just looked and there is nothing like that on the new cluster from LMC.....
The old cluster from the truck doesn't have it because it was originaly a 3spd column shift truck. Now a relentless search for a "special socket" Every old car I get in to has their little glitches like this one.

Re: Where does the fiber optic cable go???
I concur. There's a white light bulb holder with a tab that holds the cable. Ask around on the parts board, someone will have one, that's where I got mine.
