one piece Felpro Pan Gaskets

OK guys..........I have been shopping Summit and am looking at the one piece Felpro pan gaskets and for 1972 it states with "thick" front pan seal... my block is a 4 bolt main original 72 block... the front seal is what I have seen in the past...does anyone know the difference in "thick" vs "thin" when it comes to front pan seals?

Part numbers for those of you doing the one piece on a 72 4 bolt main block?

I understand the one piece is awesome over the old school 4 piece leaker style...............

Re: one piece Felpro Pan Gaskets

When I ordered mine from Summit they recommended the thick one. Can't remember why,but I think it was because I was running an alum. timing chain cover and the flange needed more sealing. Could be wrong!

You would just have to check yours to see. The difference is from the timing chain cover. One style takes the thick gasket and the other takes the thin. The thick style is the most common and is probably what is on yours. The thin style is about 1/4 inch thick and the thick style is closer to 7/16 thick.

i used the thick gasket on my 72 block. be sure not to overtighten, the gasket will let you know if you did.
