What did you get done this weekend? 6/03/07

I managed to tear my truck apart to install a vintage air kit. I found out I needed about $200 in more parts

I also pulled my rear bumper that had been smacked in an accident... about 3 months ago now

Anyone else have as much fun as I did???

I got the old bed off my 68 and finally got the 6 lug rear end out from underneath it...and took it and a couple of other rear ends and an old busted TH350 to the scrap yard...made $32 buck .....so that averages out to about .50¢ an hour..lol

I also pressure washed another large section of Jena's parents deck on saturday (it's huge and completely surrounds the pool.)

Re: What did you get done this weekend? 6/03/07

finished the wiring at the battery, finally deleting the wiring from the firewall that went to the marker lights. Trying to redo all of the underhood in shrink tube and route it sano.

Got home friday afternoon to run off to the big Santa Paula cruise, only to find the Holley carb puking fuel... So, had to swap it to an edelbrock POS I had laying around... Talk about a HUGE difference in performance! a huge DROP! Cruised it Friday night, put some new jets in the holley, and changed out the broken power valve.

Had my painter come over sat and tell me I should just get a new hood, and then sunday while cruising around, had the ride height switch for the air bags fail. Thank god I listened to my brother and set the fail safe to freeway height, and not fully dumped!!

so lots more to do NEXT weekend!

Re: What did you get done this weekend? 6/03/07

hmmm where to start!
I dug and boxed about 30 feet for the footer down one side of an old pole barn I am turning into my truck shop.
I cleaned both upper and lower gutters on the front of the house.
I removed about 5 years of moss growning on the front porch roof (probably 600 pounds of it! (new to us house).
Went to my "Land of the Lost" place and pulled a few parts
2 power steering pumps, 2 '64 glove box doors and an ashtray
a '64 heater plate, switch and cable for a board member
the front end off a '66 pontiac, a couple bucket seats....
And then "huffed" them 1/4 mile out of the woods.... THEN, dropped a $20 glove box door - not once but TWICE on the same side of my new truck bed, doing about $200 worth of denting and scratching!!!! UGH!
I did some other stuff but it's making me tired thinking about it.... except spending quite a bit of time with baby girl (best part of the weekend!)

Re: What did you get done this weekend? 6/03/07

Spent all of Friday evening cutting/grinding/pounding out the last cab mount bolt holding the cab to the old frame. Finally got the cab bolted down onto my rebuilt chassis on Saturday. Sunday, I cleaned up the cab a little bit, installed the last clamp on the brake line (had to drill a hole in my nicely painted frame!), and put some hose clamps on the fuel line connections.

Today I'll order more parts and the saga will continue!

Re: What did you get done this weekend? 6/03/07

Not Much, I spent most of my weekend cleaning up the garage and yard to get ready for my sons 3rd birthday party. The forecast was for rain so I was out in the garage till 1:00 a.m clearing out an area for the kids to play.

Luckily It cleared up a couple hours before Sundays party. His favorite toy was the die-cast Vega my buddy got him ( along with the Chevette and the faux rusted out Suburban! )

Re: What did you get done this weekend? 6/03/07

Put new wheel bearings in the front, trying to get rid of a noise, all I have to say is that I should have changed u-joints while I was there....
Took the quadrejet off and put on a Holly 750, alittle overkill at this point, but it does run better.
Thats about it for this weekend.

Re: What did you get done this weekend? 6/03/07

Saturday I had to work so I missed the car show at Oran. My son entered his '70 C-10 with a 454 and his Harley. He won 1st place in the rap-off contest and his motorcyle won 3 place.

Sunday I put a door in the south-side of the craftroom I am building for my wife and then went to my son's to look at his wife's grandfather's truck they picked up. It is a '68 no frills stock C-10 with a 6 cylinder and 3 on the tree. It is pretty rough but they plan to keep it and fix it up for my daughter-in-law to drive.

Re: What did you get done this weekend? 6/03/07

Took my twins to see their grandparents (my parents) as my dad hadn't seen them yet, they got played with by all their aunties and cousins which explains the fact that 3am saturday night I was to be found with a cup of takeaway coffee pushing the one that wouldn't sleep around the car park of the motel we were staying in.

Saw lots of rods and american cars on the road on the way back as there had been a big show. This beauty was parked up in front of me at a service area.

Re: What did you get done this weekend? 6/03/07

Friday- Hauled a couple scoops of Garden Soil and filled the planter boxes I built last weekend. Went with the wife to the nursery to pick up a crap-load of foliage for said planter boxes.

Saturday- Started cleaning out the garage- finally got rid of the last remnants of our old kitchen along with the scraps of flooring we put in a couple months ago and a bunch of plain old garden variety junk I had laying around. Went to the dump to dispose of above trash and then went back to the landscape supply yard and got a couple scoops of bark mulch. Spent the rest of the day spreading bark-dust and tidying up the back yard.

Sunday- Cleaned out the garage some more and began stripping the front clip for the '67 I picked up a couple weeks ago. Lots of WD-40 and busted bolts, but things are coming along nicely. Hopefully by this coming weekend I'll be able to get the grill and hood in DP-40.

Today- I took a day off the "grind" and am hauling the LWB bedside I scored out to the stripper to be "dipped" and phosphate converted. It'll be nice to work with clean virgin steel when I get this back in about 10-days!

Re: What did you get done this weekend? 6/03/07

I spent the whole weekend selling my extra truck parts at the swap meet at a Goodguys event.... Gotta love it when I'm selling complete doors for $10-20 bucks each and the vender near me was asking $260 for a shell of a door....
I had 16 doors when I started. Came back with 1 door. I had a bunch of things that I sold very cheap. Hoods were $10, all kinds of other things that I sold were $1 - $5. Made close to $900 over two days....

The only thing that really bugs me was that one guy from Fremont (who I feel sells his stuff for way too much) brought a lot of things from me, and I know he is just going to turn around and up the price by 3-4 times and rip off other guys who just want to build thier trucks... Had a nice 67 chevy grill for $40 and this guy was still trying to talk me down on the price. I kinda yelled at him that at $40 bucks he was still going to make triple $$ on it so knock it off....

Also had my 67 in the show and met up with Jerry Jones and Rokcrln and chatted with them both a bit.... I had met Jerry before and it was great to meet Kevin (Rokcrln). I had a lot of fun hanging out near my truck and watching them check it out. At times I had about 10 guys standing around me asking me about the truck (wood bed, gas filler, stereo, drivetrain, etc...) My wife had to rescue me a few times as I had guys waiting at the swap meet spot to buy stuff from me....
