Another question
I am skining the firewall so i get a nice and smooth firewall when I noticed something. The curved part of the firewall that is right above the back of the motor and the start of the tranny there is a bunch of little dents. I am going to hammer and dolly them out as much as possible but they will most likely require some bondo to get it perfectly smooth. I am worried about the heat from the motor causing the bondo to lift or do something weird. Will it be fine or do i have to do something different? Anyone have personal experience? Thanks alot
Josh

Re: Another question
well personally i don't use bondo brand filler at all becuase of its tendacy to crack break etc. what i do use is fiber hair you can get it at napa and it is green its eather made by 3m or martin senior i cant remember any how it gets alot harder than bondo and bonds to metal alot better, and the good part it sands and works just as easy as bondo only thing is that you need to where a good resperator while sanding cause it does have micro fiber glass in it. they also make fiber strand but it is harder to work and has long strands of fiberglass in it i dont recomend that, if you try the hair i think you will be impressed as i was and probably wont use bondo again. body supply stores also have filler made by evercoat that is aslo much better than bondo. im sure you wont have a problem as long as your hedders are not directly besid the bondo any how and if thats the case the paint is gonna suffer first. good luck

Re: Another question
I wouldn't think that the area in question would be subject to high temperatures. I do agree that there are better products than bondo, though.

Re: Another question
one more thought the fiber hair won't make you itch real bad like you might suspect

Re: Another question
I think when he said "bondo" it was probably just a term not a brand.

Re: Another question
I don't know if it answers your question or not, but the P.O. of my truck used bondo to try to stop a timing chain cover leak, the bondo stayed on there for a long time until I found it. It didn;t flake off, I had to chip it off, and no it didn't stop the leak either.
