There are many possibilities and if you know of drawbacks please say so. But if you want to go to the newer aluminum master cylinder with a more compact vaccum booster --this modified 84-86 Fiero is a nice package. MC fittings are the same. If you run disc/drums -- you will need a proportioning valve---if you run alll drums--just use your stock splitter block. I completed this one last nite for 67-72 --may even work on a 65/66.

What exactly is modified?

I'm guessing the mounting bracket, but not sure how or why?
Very interested in this mod for my 72

That looks pretty small for a truck.. Bigger the brake the better stopping power.. Same with a brake booster.. That was designed to stop a Fiero not a truck...

Considering that a lot of these trucks do not have power brakes at all (like my 64 C10) adding any amount of boost is going to ease the peddle pushing job. The bigger the diaphragm (or piston or whatever is in those things) then the more SI for the PSI to work on, so yes the bigger it is the more it helps. I am asuming the orignal master cyl is in play, that's how I read it. So a little booster making it a little easier to stop might might be enough for some. Pesonally, I'm liking that tight tidy appearance, and until now never even considered bothering to add any vacuum assist.

I am a purist an prefer the factory Bendix or Moraine power brake booster. I have converted a number of my '64-'66 Chevy trucks to power brakes, by utilizing the factory power brake booster and mounting wedge.

This is off the subject, but I've been wondering...

I'm liking those oil fills mounted front and easy to reach, like in LILRED66's pics above. Is it straight forward or even possible to convert a 71 GMC 350V8 to be like that?
And I presume the fill cap is also vented, so it it still really necessary to have the vents in the valve covers too?

The front oil filler tube is rather common on stock V8 manifolds on the 283 & 327 engines in the '64-'66 Chevy trucks. The oil filler cap is vented. The trucks I have with this feature and the factory valve covers, do not have the oil caps in the valve covers or a factory PCV valve. I have added vented valve covers with a vent cap on one bank and a PVC valve on the other bank to the underside of the air cleaner. I think this is a better method to stabilize the top end.
