Factory Bumper Guards on '66 C20 & K20

I have the factory bumper guards on a few of my trucks and I really like the way they look. Tell me what you think.

Re: Factory Bumper Guards on '66 C20 & K20

I have always installed mine in the factory bumper holes, directly in front of the frames rails, however I purchased an OEM, NOS set, still in the GM box and they had the installation instructions and mounting template. They are marked CHEVROLET DIVISION, General Motors Corp. They indicate drilling new holes and provide the template to do so. I prefer them in front of the frame rails, in order to direct the forces into the frame and not the bumper.

I like 'em on mine... so much so I put 'em on there.

I blame it all on hilandr451 though. He just had to show everyone online how to do it...

Re: Factory Bumper Guards on '66 C20 & K20

I really like the look of the bumper guards. They really dress up the appearance.
I purchased an after market bumper from LMC and the original bumper guards do not fit.
I'm wondering if anybody knows if there is bumper guards for after market bumpers?

Re: Factory Bumper Guards on '66 C20 & K20

Paul:

Sorry to hear about the misfit, however LMC Truck states in their catalog that their bumper guards only fit OEM front bumpers, not the aftermarket bumpers they sell in their catalog. Makes me wonder why they sell an aftermarket bumper that is not an replica of the factory bumpers? In any case, a good used factory front bumper and your bumper guards, may be your best bet, since they don't produce bumper guards that fit the aftermarket bumpers being sold. Good luck with your bumper guards.
