I have a 67 K10 and can't remember how these go back on. Can't find any pics to reference either; also lost my USB cable so can't load a pic to clarify. It's the blocks that sit between the spring perch and spring... mine have 'handles' on them, do they point in or out?
When IN they look like they'd hit the snubber and screw things up...
when OUT they just point at the backing plate. No interference with the wheel cylinders/brake lines though. I have looked through a bunch of sites and done several searches with no answers. Of course after I post this I'll find something... usually do. BTW there aren't any markings on them to indicate a certain way to be mounted. They look the same as Ford did with their HiBoy trucks of the late 60s-early 70s I think. I dunno...

Usually they are supposed to point inwards so the snubber will touch on them. BUT the only factory block that I have seen like that has been on the fords

I'v never seen anything like that stock on any old chevy 4wd I have seen.Something to level the truck out or let it sit higher like a normal lift block?

I dunno... the truck sits a few inches higher than my buddy's 71 K10 with 33s while I have 31s. I checked a bunch of sites and haven't seen anything like it so I guess they're aftermarket deals. I might as well keep 'em... might look funny with a lower rear end.

Is that an open knuckle front axle with discs that I see? If so then it's not stock either. You should only have two springs in the rear like your pic. That's what my 68 K-10 has (or had, i added an add-a-leaf to it). No harm in what type of lift that you have. I you want to ditch the blocks then you will have to go with a rear shackle flip and run factory springs. If you like how it is then keep watcha got...

The u bolts would come down from the top if it was original. I think its a ford part.

i beleive its a ford block also and it should point in and be turned over.

msgross, yes that is an open knuckle but the ring and pinion are thrashed because the PO didn't match gear ratios when he swapped out the closed knuckle. Also broke the front d-shaft at the T-case... smacked the oil pan but no bad damage. The closed knuckle came with the truck so that's what's going to end up under the front. I think I'll just keep the blocks, nobody has to know they may be/are F**d parts. Thanks to you guys for the info!! Stay tuned for progress pics... eventually.

I would just go find a new dana44 with the right gear, might cost $100-$150 at the junkyard but you will have disc brakes still. Closed knuckles are drum brakes only. What gears are in your rear?

You can get disc brake conversions for closed knuckle axles now...

The rear gears are 3.73 and so are the fronts. Pulled the diff covers and made sure, build date stamped on the ring gears is from 3 15 66. This isn't going to be a trail-beast so I'll just stick with the closed front.
Where in PA is Lebanon? I am from Doylestown in Bucks County, kinda miss it but not that much. No old trucks there!!
