Re: 75 4x4 Rear End
Measure from backing plate to backing plate on each axle to see if its the same length. If it is it should work, but you will probably have to weld the correct spring mounting plates on the new axle.

Re: 75 4x4 Rear End
After measuring, if it is within a few inches, it is usable. Too narrow and there are clearance issue the the wheel tubs and too wide there are clearance issues with the out fender, however there is some space to work with. This is also effected by the wheel & tire width you are running. I hope this helps.

Re: 75 4x4 Rear End
It is hard. You have to weld the pads on and also something to hold the panard bar on. You could try and take the spring mounts from the 75 also and see if you can drill holes and bolt them to your frame and just use leaf springs.. I believe a 75 would be a 12 bolt anyway... Probably a posi also..

Re: 75 4x4 Rear End
Aside from the aforementioned trailing arm mounts and panhard mount, that '75 12 bolt will be wider than the rear end in your '60. AFAIK it is about 1 1/2" wider. Also sometime right around '76 is when GM upgraded the rear brake shoes to 2 1/2" wide shoes, which would be a nice upgrade along with the better diff. FYI measuring from backing plate to backing plate isn't an accurate or proper way to measure the width of a diff. You should measure wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface, since that is what determines where your wheels will be.

Re: 75 4x4 Rear End
Also you need to know what the back spacing of your wheel that you are going to use. That would help you get it under your truck, if you still want to use the axle.
