Where can I get a serpentine setup?

Ive got to figure out a way to get a pulley set up for my 70 gmc. It has a 350 with heads off a pre vortec engine. The engine is new to me. Ive looked in jegs and summit and I need to find something cheaper than what they have. I plan on running a/c and it already has a water pump on it. Could i make something work out of a junk yard? The pic I have of the engine is not the best angle but the truck is 40 miles from here so this is the only one I have.
thanks for any info or ideas.

Re: Where can I get a serpentine setup?

Try the local bone yards, they'll be your best bet, eBay or Craigslist next. I've seen them on eBay for $100 to $150 range before when I was thinking about it.

Here's a couple...I remember them being a little cheaper, but I don't know your budget.

Re: Where can I get a serpentine setup?

check out all 87-95 chevy v8 vehicles with tbi, theres hundreds of these vehicles in junk yards i used the set up off a 89 suburban for my k5 just remember when u run serpentine system the water pump spins the oppostie way as the older chevy belt engines. if ur engine is a vortec and thats the same water pump ur ok

Re: Where can I get a serpentine setup?

Hop in the daily driver and head down here to Jackson. Complete serp setup with pumps, compressor, etc... for about $50-75 depending on what it comes off of.
I got mine for $50.

Re: Where can I get a serpentine setup?

You can get a serpentine setup of of any TBI engine from a full size car or truck form the late 80's up into the mid 90s...or a TPI engine (camaro/firebird) before the LT1...make sure you get both brackets and all the pulleys....and the fan!..don't forget the fan..it runs backwards from a normal setup...

If you go electric fans then you don't need the clutch fan...

Re: Where can I get a serpentine setup?

Ok I got a setup off a 4.3 in a 88 s-10. Now the water pump is the question. My crank pulley looks like it is for serpentine. So Im thinkin the motor had a serpentine on it. I need to ask the guy that I bought it off of. But im confuzzed on the which works and which dont. I also have a old air a/c set up on order. Should it bolt up or will I have probs?

thanks everyone.

Re: Where can I get a serpentine setup?

I say if you are in question Buy a new/rebuilt or new from the parts store to fit the application of the serp. setup. 88 s-10 4.3 in your case. They are not that much and atleast you will know then and who know the condition of the pump on there. I say it is worth it.

Re: Where can I get a serpentine setup?

just make sure that the setup u get is like the one pictured above as it has the bracket already there ( pulley on the left ) for the air system to adapt to

the one pictured above has the dummy pulley in place of the ac unit mine was the same and old air sent me a adapter bracket( i think he said like a j bracket or something) to adapt there ac unit to that bracket it was slick and worked well
