Am I missing something?

Playing with some ideas and I was doing some rough work on my frame this evening so I cut out a notch to be able to get an idea of travel. AFTER that I brought the bed sills in to check for clearance. Am I seeing this correctly? The rear axle will contact the bed floor at the point I have it in this picture right? If so I guess I didn't need that much notch! That sucks! I just assumed there was more room to the bed floor. It has been a long time since I have seen this truck together.
...I know, the wood drop blocks probably won't work ehh?

Re: Am I missing something?

Nope, you're not missing anything. The differential will hit the bed floor before your axle tubes bottom out on the notch.

Re: Am I missing something?

I'm assuming you're bagging it with a mild notch.... then yep.The dif will stick up about 3/4" above the upper surface of the floor. If you have a wood floor it will contact the underside sooner than if you have a steel floor.Another thing to consider is that there is another smaller cross sill that passes through in that area that will interfere even more.
I'm switching from steel to wood and am raising the bed floor to provide clearance and hide the dif.
The link in my sig shows how I'm raising the floor if you're interested.

Re: Am I missing something?

Just checked out your pics . . . thanks! That is a good idea on the bed floor. I will be widening the tubs to get as much tire as I can and still have a sort of stock look, so raising the floor may be the way to go to get height over the tire as well. My 9" rear will be about 6" narrower than the stocker and I brought the trailing arms in so nothing sticks out beyond the frame rails.
Thanks again,
Scott

Re: Am I missing something?

yeah, I was gonna say, if you didn't start cutting, your tires would hit your fenders way before your diff hits your bed!
