spring perches
Does any one have an extra rear end, for a 70 half ton coil spring truck, that can get the measurement from the center of the spring perch to the center of the spring perch for me?
I'm at my cousins this week and just fell into a 9" posi with discs for $100.00 . If I can get the perch measurement then we can get the perches mounted and go home next Thursday with a new rear end ready to bolt in. Thanks guys, Frank

Re: spring perches
Yes as in a 9"ferd
It will be enough of a bolt in to keep my chassis rolling. My wheels are double drilled for ferd or chevy so the only other thing to change is the rearend end of the drive shaft. I need to have the drive shaft shortened abit anyway so,,,,,, Frank

Re: spring perches
What mounting points are you refering to? At this point all the stock brackets have been removed from the rear end. If I can get the measurement of the spring perches for our trucks the new perches will be going on before I go home next week.

Re: spring perches
I would recommend that you get the rear end and the truck together and set the rear in place on the arms (with the wheels on). That way, you can measure the angle off the back of the tranny yoke and match the rear end to that angle, and also get the proper location of the axle brackets. Note you need to get an adjustable pan hard bar kit with the new mounting brackets as you will not be able to mount the bar to the nine inch...
I did all of this to my 67, was even able to use the ebrakes (had to use two ford rear cables).... Let me know if you need any more details... |
